Initially, Huffman Manufacturing Company made and marketed bikes under the “Dayton” brand. ![]() During the 1930s, Horace Huffman was one of the leaders in the revival of the American cycling industry. Huffman, Sr., George’s son, established the Huffman Manufacturing Company. The machinery was moved to Dayton, Ohio, three years later, and two years after that, in 1892, The Davis Sewing Machine Company manufactured the first bicycle in Dayton. Huffman’s 1887 purchase of the Davis Sewing Machine in Watertown, Maine. ![]()
